III. Prospective projects after 2012

Year 2012 = active ageing year (Implementation of projects to solve seniors’ difficulties + Realization in the framework of a European cooperation WHY? 35 % of the population in the E.U > 50 years old between 2005 and 2050 Number of people + 85 years old  x3 by 2050 More and more difficulties for seniors

Topics tackled Social aspect Cultural Impact Economic environment The idea is to redress inequalities in every seniors ‘lives segment

The Strategy Europe 2020 (=Main project to solve difficulties) Increasing the life expectancy by 2 years within 6 years ( ) Providing 75% of people with a job Saving at least 20 million people from poverty and social exclusion.

What is the interest for the elderly? Health grants are going to be improved More important workforce=More people to contribute to health system Life expectancy risen= more time to contribute Less exclusion for elderly

Direct interventions -Letting seniors working longer to complete their pensions -Makin this proposal attractive (tax advantages, trainings…) Indirect interventions with European cooperation -A European platform to coordinate this cooperation -A common social security system (common basic rules) -Limiting immigration

A European Union “friend of all ages” Communication campaigns: encouraging intergenerational solidarity Favoring intergenerational exchanges: competences, informatics etc. Redressing demographic inequalities (rural zones  EAFRD)
