Programme Address by Vice Principal Administrative Briefing by Level Head

Pathways for N(A) Students 2 yrs JC / 3 yrs CI 3 yrs NAFA / LaSelle 3 yrs Poly 2 yrs Poly 3 yrs Poly ----------------1 yr Foundation Programme ELMAB3 ≤ 11 2 yrs ITE Nitec Pass with 3 GCE N or 2 GCE O 2 yrs ITE Direct Entry Scheme (DPP) to Higher Nitec ELMAB3 ≤ 19 10 wks(Jan – Mar) Prep Programme 2 yrs ITE Higher Nitec ER1B3 (Business) ER2B2 (Sc &Tech) There are 4 different pathways for NA students. If you attain EL, MA and best 3 subjs 19 points or lesser, you can be promoted to Sec 5N to take GCE O level. Sec 5N(A) ELMAB3 ≤ 19 GCE N Level Exams - 4 years N(A) Course

Criteria for Promotion to Sec 5 Sec 4 NA students can be promoted to Sec 5N if they satisfy the following criteria: ELMAB3 ≤19, with at least N(A)-level grade 5 for all subjects in computing ELMAB3 The use of combined results is allowed for the purpose of computing the aggregate score for promotion to Sec 5N. However, students can only combine the results of 2 consecutive GCE ‘N’ Level Examination. Registration Form (Purple) to be submitted latest by Thursday (20 Dec 2012) 10 am Class Allocation will be announced via school website by Friday (28 Dec 2012) 5 pm The use of combined results is allowed for the purpose of computing the aggregate score for promotion to Sec 5N. However, students can only combine the results of 2 consecutive GCE ‘N’ Level Examination. Preparation for O levels Starts NOW.

ITE DES-to-Poly Programme (DPP) For N(A) students who are fairly strong academically ELMAB3 ≤ 19 points Suitable for students whose learning styles are more application-based and hands-on Advantage of choosing DPP over Sec 5N Direct entry to Higher Nitec, which is otherwise only available for O-level holders Students assured of 1st or 2nd year place in related poly Diploma course, if they attain qualifying GPA scores The use of combined results is allowed for the purpose of computing the aggregate score for promotion to Sec 5N. However, students can only combine the results of 2 consecutive GCE ‘N’ Level Examination. Preparation for O levels Starts NOW.

Criteria for Poly Foundation Programme (PFP) For N(A) students who are academically strong and clearly polytechnic bound ELMAB3 ≤11, with a minimum grade of 3 for EL and MA Only for 4NA students, not for Sec 4 Exp and 5NA students The use of combined results is allowed for the purpose of computing the aggregate score for promotion to Sec 5N. However, students can only combine the results of 2 consecutive GCE ‘N’ Level Examination. Preparation for O levels Starts NOW.

Computation of ELMAB3 Combinations to compute ELMAB3: a) GCE N(A)-level results only Firm offer by 24 Dec 12 (9 am) b) GCE N(A)-level + Prelim O-level results Conditional offer by 24 Dec 12 (9 am), firm offer after GCE “O” release on 16 Jan 13 (2pm) tentatively c) GCE N(A)-level + GCE O-level results Firm offer after GCE “O” release Students offering duplicate subjects at both N- & O-levels: ELMAB3 computation for PFP will take the better grade

Conversion Matrix for Sec 5 School “O” Level Prelim1 Grade “N” Level Exam Grade A1, A2, B3 1 B4, C5, C6 2 D7, E8 3 F9 4 GCE O Levels More Demanding – questions ask for more than just knowledge of facts but application of knowledge An indication is the Grade Equivalence

Conversion matrix for DPP GCE N(A)-level + Prelim O-level or GCE O level results ‘O’ Level Grade Aggregate Points for ITE A1, A2, B3 1 B4, C5, C6 2 D7, E8 3 GCE O Levels More Demanding – questions ask for more than just knowledge of facts but application of knowledge An indication is the Grade Equivalence Note: O level grade of F9 and N(A) grade of 6 will not be used to determine DPP eligibility

Conversion matrix for PFP GCE N(A)-level + Prelim O-level or GCE O level results ‘O’ Level Grade Aggregate Points for PFP A1 – B3 1 B4 – C6 2 D7 3 Note: ‘O’ Level grades of E8 and F9 will not be considered in both aggregate score computation as well as minimum entry requirements.

Computation of ELMAB3 ELMAB3 = 8+1 = 9 For example Subject GCE N level Grade Prelim ‘O’ Level Grade English 2 - Mathematics B3 = 1 Science Combined Humanities Mother Tongue ELMAB3 = 8+1 = 9

Can CCA points be used to compute ELMAB3? You must achieve the minimum criteria of ELMAB3 ≤ 19 before CCA bonus points can be factored into ELMAB3 aggregate for selection and posting. For example CCA grade A1-A2: 2 points CCA grade B3-C6: 1 point Subject Grade English 2 Mathematics Science Combined Humanities Mother Tongue CCA A1 Raw ELMAB3 = 10 Net ELMAB3 = 10-2 = 8
