10 Direct-Entry-Scheme to Polytechnic Programme (DPP)

11 Direct-Entry-Scheme to Polytechnic Programme (DPP)
Check results at On 28 Dec 2018, Fri, 9.00 a.m. Accept/ reject/ appeal the offer. If you do not accept the offer by the stipulated date, it will become void and you will be required to continue to attend Sec 5 on 2 Jan 2019, Wed.

12 Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP)
Eligible students will receive Form P upon the release of GCE-O Level results. Apply at on the day the GCE O-Level results are released in January 2019. Continue to attend Sec 5 on 2 Jan 2019, Wed. More information can be found at:

13 Certificate Amendment Request
Students who want to request for a re-print of their certificates due to misspelling of their names. Complete the application form (from Ms Tina). Closing date: 21 Dec 2018, Fri, 3.00 p.m.

14 Criteria For Repeat Sec 4N(A) students are eligible to repeat their N(A)-Level examination if they satisfy all the following criteria: (a) Obtain an aggregate score: Not exceeding 21 points for ELMAB3, or Not exceeding 14 points for ELB3, or Not exceeding 14 points for MAB3.

15 Criteria For Repeat Sec 4N(A) students are eligible to repeat their N(A)-Level examination if they satisfy all the following criteria: (b) Will not be more than 4 years overage, for SC/ PR , or more than 2 years overage, for International Students. (c) Sat for the GCE N(A)-Level Examination only once previously.

23 NAFA Foundation Programme
For Students Planning to Enter NAFA NAFA Foundation Programme The new Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) Foundation Programme (NFP) is a one-year foundation course where 4NA graduates can apply and be admitted directly to NAFA as an alternative to the GCE O-Level. Starting in March 2019, the NFP will cover a range of subject areas to nurture students’ technical, artistic and literacy skills in preparation for a creative arts diploma at NAFA. Registration for the NFP is ongoing and will end on Saturday, 20 Jan 2018. Find out more about NFP and the application details here:

29 Aptitude-based Admissions in ITE
For Students Planning to Enter ITE Aptitude-based Admissions in ITE ITE EAE Conditional offers will be automatically confirmed if students meet the subject-specific MERs for ITE courses. These students will not be allowed to take part in the JIE. Aptitude Screening in Joint Intake Exercise (JIE) From the 2019 JIE, aptitude screening will be expanded to more courses in the JIE. These could include interviews, aptitude tests or portfolio assessments, depending on the course. This is an additional opportunity for students who have met the minimum entry requirements for the courses but had scored borderline grades, to gain a place on the basis of their interest and aptitude for the course More information on which courses offer aptitude screening can be found in the JIE Booklet. Examples of aptitude screening at the JIE: For the Nitec in Floristry, a floral arrangement test will be introduced to assess candidates on their creativity, colour sense and overall aesthetic appreciation

For Students Planning to Enter ITE How can I enter ITE? 2-year Higher Nitec courses via DPP 2-year Nitec Traineeship Courses Unique scheme that offers you an  ITE education and allows you to gain real-life work experience 2-year Nitec Wide range of Nitec courses available providing hands-on training in Engineering, ICT and Business & Services Sec 4N(A) results Pre-requisites ELMAB3 ≤ 19 & subject-specific minimum entry requirements For Option 1, highlight that Direct-entry-scheme to Polytechnic Programme (DPP) is an alternative to the Sec 5 year. Students who have completed their Sec 5 year should not go on to use their Sec 4N(A) results to apply for DPP. Q: Are Secondary 5 N(A) students allowed to apply for the DPP using their GCE ‘N’ Levels results obtained in their Secondary 4 N(A) year? A) No. The DPP provides an alternative pathway for the current Secondary 4 Normal (Academic) cohort. Students who have proceeded to Secondary 5 may subsequently apply to the polytechnics and ITE upon completion of their GCE ‘O’ Level examinations. For Sec 4 N(A) Students Planning to Enter the Polytechnics Using Sec 4 N(A) Level results Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP) Who should apply: Students who meet the PFP eligibility criteria* and are certain that they wish to pursue a polytechnic education * Eligibility Check: Sec 4N(A) student who has sat for GCE N-Level 2018 Obtained ELMAB3 (English, Math, 3 Best subjects) aggregate of 12 points or less (before deduction of CCA bonus points) Obtained Grade 3 or better for all subjects used in the computation of your ELMAB3 aggregate (Note: Certain PFP courses require an EL grade of 2.) If you can check all 3 boxes above, you’re eligible! 1. Using Sec 4 N(A) Level results: Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP) A foundation year at the polytechnics that: Prepares well-performing Sec 4N(A) students for progression into respective polytechnic diploma courses Serves as an alternative to Sec 5 Conducted over two academic semesters (one year) at the polytechnics by polytechnic staff Students must pass all PFP modules in order to progress to their respective diploma courses. 1,500 places offered across >80% of diploma courses at the polytechnics. 1. Students interested in applying to the PFP should first progress to Secondary 5N(A). 2. Upon the release of the GCE ‘O’ Level results in Jan, eligible N(A) students will given the option to apply for the PFP course of their choice using the issued Form P. 3. If successful, they will be notified by the end of January and they can then withdraw from Secondary 5 in end Jan. 4. Please note that being eligible to apply does not guarantee placement to a PFP course of your choice.

36 ELR2B2 is used for admissions into the Polytechnics.
For Sec 4 N(A) Students Planning to Enter the Polytechnics Enter poly after completing Sec 5N(A) Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) Students must also meet the Minimum Entry Requirements for the course they want to pursue ELR2B2 is used for admissions into the Polytechnics. The aggregate is calculated based on O-Level subjects. English Language 2 RELEVANT subjects for the course applied for 2 other best subjects Refer to JAE booklet 2018 for details of admission criteria.

For Sec 4 N(A) Students Planning to Enter the Polytechnics Enter ITE first, then apply to poly later Direct-entry-scheme to Polytechnic Programme (DPP) * Please refer to for the mapping of DPP courses to diploma courses DPP prepares students for Polytechnic via 2-yr Higher Nitec in ITE Achieve minimum qualifying Higher Nitec Grade Point Average (GPA) specific to DPP students Assured of a place in a mapped* Polytechnic course + = The DPP prepares Secondary 4 Normal (Academic) [N(A)] students for progression into selected polytechnic diploma courses via a two-year Higher Nitec course at ITE. DPP students who successfully complete their Higher Nitec courses and attain the required minimum qualifying Higher Nitec Grade Point Average (GPA) scores are guaranteed a place in a polytechnic diploma course mapped to their Higher Nitec course. Who should apply: Students who meet the DPP eligibility criteria and have an interest in an applied education pathway. Application: Upon the release of their GCE ‘N’-Level results in Dec, eligible N(A) students will given the option to apply for the DPP course of their choice using the issued Form N. Refer to DPP website for specific dates.

For Sec 4 N(A) Students Planning to Enter the Polytechnics Enter ITE first, then apply to poly later Joint Polytechnic Admissions Exercise (JPAE) Students must obtain minimum qualifying GPA (2.0 for Higher Nitec; 3.5 for Nitec) to be eligible for progression to the Polytechnics. Nitec graduates are also eligible to progress to Higher Nitec if they meet the minimum qualifying GPA (2.3 for Engineering and ICT; 2.8 for Business and Services). Net Cumulative GPA (including ITE CCA bonus points) is used for admissions into the Polytechnics. Refer to the JPAE website for more information:

They will be holistically assessed based on their interests, aptitude and relevant work experience for the course. For applicants who have not met the academic MERs, the polytechnics will administer additional assessments for academic suitability. … or apply for a Part-time Diploma Working adults require a minimum of two years’ relevant minimum experience with a Nitec and GPA of 3.5 or higher; or one year’s experience with a Higher Nitec Applicants who do not meet academic MERs will be assessed holistically for admission
