Senior After Sept 1, can email you Scholarship Offer Typically giving Official Visits to only committed recruits. Coach can offer an Athletic Scholarship. SAT & Eligibility Center D1 NCAA RULES Recruit should: VISITING Campus SAT & Eligibility Center Freshman Contact Coaches. Send FH schedule. Attend College Camps Ask for Unofficial Visit. Visit for one day or overnight. Meet team. Unofficial Visits: Arrange visit through Club or HS Coach. Get to know team, campus, watch practice. Pay for your own meals, pay for cost of dorm stay. Study hard and get good grades. Sophomore Take PSAT or SAT Junior Look to Verbally Commit, after receiving roster spot or scholarship offer Take SAT in fall. Register with NCAA Eligibility Center. Senior Apply in September Sign NLI in November Official Visit: You can take 5 paid OVs Retake SAT if needed. Send in Final Transcripts to NCAA Eligibility Center

Do’s & Don’ts Do write a formal email before any event. (No abbreviations, don’t write you are texting, sign your name.) Do say what you like about the school. (Size, location, have your major, you met Coach, etc.) Do say why you like the school. (Why would a player from Texas want to leave home?) Do your research on the Team and School. (Go to their webpage, FB, Twitter, Instagram.) Do practice and be prepared for tournaments. (Coaches may only watch you for a few minutes. Coaches can go back and watch video of games, so play hard every minute..)

Do’s & Don’ts Don’t have your parents do all the talking. (We want to get to know you, not your parent.) Don’t write to the wrong coach. (Be careful with cut and paste.) Don’t email 40 coaches at same time. (Use BBC!) Don’t show up unannounced. (Go through your club coach to schedule a visit. Tell college coach when you plan to do a Campus Tour.) Don’t have inappropriate things on social media! Don’t text on your phone during your Visit.

Scholarships $$ Athletic Scholarships 100% or Full = Tuition, Room, Board, Books, Fees, Cost of Attendance NLI: sign National Letter of Intent in November of Senior year. Academic Scholarships Financial Aid (Federal, State Aid) FASFA: Apply by March 1 of Senior Year Outside Scholarships (must report to coach.)

Panel Scholarships – When do you offer full ride? How long to decide after offer? What SKILLS are we looking for in player? What do we look for in a VIDEO? “Red Shirt” (get 5th year of eligibility) “Grey Shirt” (go to college early in Seniors spring.)
