5 What are coaches looking for in a prospective student athlete?
Ability – skill, technique, athleticism, tactical knowledge, decision making Attitude – leadership, work rate, motivation, character Academic success Interpersonal skills

6 Number of college soccer programs
Division 1 – 203 men’s soccer / 328 women’s soccer Division 2 – 204 men’s soccer / 255 women’s soccer Division 3 – 408 men’s soccer / 197 women’s soccer NAIA – 193 men’s soccer / 197 women’s soccer NJCAA – 216 men’s soccer / 184 women’s soccer 6

7 Number of Scholarships Division 1 – 9.9 men / 14 women
Division 3 – no athletic aid available NAIA – 12 men / 12 women NJCAA – 18 men / 18 women 7

8 Division 1 Athletic requirements:
An athlete will have 4 year of eligibility in a 5 year period after high school graduation Division 1 Athletic requirements: Complete 16 NCAA core courses Earn at least a 2.3 GPA in your core courses Earn an SAT combined score or ACT sum score that matches your core – course GPA on the Division 1 sliding scale Division 2 Athletic requirements Earn at least a 2.0 GPA in your core courses Earn a composite of 820 score (math/verbal) for SAT and a sum score of 68 for ACT 8

9 Recruiting Timeline

10 Register with the NCAA Eligibility Center
9th and 10th Grade NCAA Core Courses Register with the NCAA Eligibility Center Begin reaching out to College Coaches Start attending college ID camps of schools you are interested in Visit Schools to see what you like Coaches cannot initiate contact at this point in time 10

11 Coaches can begin contacting potential student athletes
Sept. 1st of Junior year Coaches can begin contacting potential student athletes Official and Unofficial Visits with Coach A prospective student athlete can contact a coach at any time or year in school 11

12 Get a copy of HS Transcript 12th Grade Retake SAT or ACT, if necessary
Request final amateurism certification by April 1st Upload Final Transcripts/Test Scores NLI/LOA No Recruiting path is the same 12

14 Be Professional Grad Year, GPA, Position, Club Team, Schedule, Highlight Tape Be Specific why you want to go to that school
