Daniel the Intercessor

9:2 “…Daniel, understood from the Scriptures,

Jer 29:10 This is what the L ORD says: “When seventy years are completed…

11 For I know the plansI have for you,” declares the L ORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Daniel 9:3 So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes.

Daniel Confessed the Sins of the People!

Proverbs 28:13 Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

Daniel 9:18 …We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy.

Isaiah 30:18 Yet the L ORD longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion…

19 … you will weep no more. How gracious he will be when you cry for help! As soon as he hears, he will answer you.

Daniel’s Prayers Captured the Attention of Heaven!

Dan 9:21 while I was still in prayer, Gabriel, the man I had seen in the earlier vision, came to me in swift flight…

2 …I, Daniel, mourned for three weeks. 3 I ate no choice food; no meat or wine touched my lips; and I used no lotions at all until the three weeks were over.

7 I, Daniel, was the only one who saw the vision; those who were with me did not see it,

but such terror overwhelmed them that they fled and hid themselves.

8 …I had no strength left, my face turned deathly pale and I was helpless.

9 …I fell into a deep sleep, my face to the ground.

10 A hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees.

12 …“Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God,

your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.

13 But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days.

Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia.
