1 Your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion
Know Your Enemy! Your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion 1 Peter 5:8, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”

2 Know Your Enemy! The devil is not the opposite, but equal enemy of God. God is omniscient (Isaiah 42:9; 46:10) Isaiah 42:9, “Behold, the former things have come to pass, And new things I declare; Before they spring forth I tell you of them.“ Isaiah 46:10, “Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, 'My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,”

3 Know Your Enemy! The devil is not the opposite, but equal enemy of God. God is omniscient (Isaiah 42:9; 46:10) The devil is limited in knowledge… Example: He did not know Job’s future! (Job 1:9-11; 2:3-5) (Job 1:9-11), “So Satan answered the Lord and said, "Does Job fear God for nothing? 10 Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. 11 But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face!" (Job 2:3-5), “Then the Lord said to Satan, "Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil? And still he holds fast to his integrity, although you incited Me against him, to destroy him without cause."4 So Satan answered the Lord and said, "Skin for skin! Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life. 5 But stretch out Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will surely curse You to Your face!"

4 Limitations of the Devil!
Limitations of Knowledge: He thought killing Jesus would accomplish his desires (1 Corinthians 2:7-8) He did not believe that Jesus would be resurrected from the dead (Acts 2:23-24) He doesn’t KNOW that he can defeat us. We can and should resist his efforts (1 Peter 5:8-9) (1 Corinthians 2:7-8), “But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, 8 which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” Note: Satan was behind their efforts to kill the son of God (cf. Genesis 3:15) Bruise the heel of the seed of woman… (Acts 2:23-24), “Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death; 24 whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it. What Satan believed to be a great victory became his ultimate defeat! How could he not know? It seems the simple answer is his arrogance! (cf. his attitude toward Job) (1 Peter 5:8-9), “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.”

5 Know Your Enemy! The devil is not the opposite, but equal enemy of God. God is omniscient (Isaiah 42:9; 46:10) The devil is limited in knowledge… Example: He did not know Job’s future! (Job 1:9-11; 2:3-5) Regardless, He is Evil and Powerful! - Though, we can resist him (1 Peter 5:8-9) God is greater (1 John 4:4) In Christ is our victory over him (Eph. 6:10-13) (1 Peter 5:8-9), “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.” (1 John 4:4), “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 5 They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. 6 We are of God…” (Ephesians 6:10-13), “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

6 Resist him, steadfast in the faith!
Defeat Your Enemy! Resist him, steadfast in the faith! (1 Peter 5:8-9), “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.” (James 4:7-8), “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double- minded. 9 Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.”
