CV Professor Hilary Thomas NameProfessor Hilary Thomas PositionPartner and Clinical Lead – Life Sciences and Healthcare Advisory and Global Centre of Excellence ExperienceHilary qualified in 1984 and pursued a career in oncology from Senior Lecturer at Imperial to Professor of Oncology at the University of Surrey where she led a basic science research group and was a keen contributor to clinical trials of all Phases as well as a Key Opinion Leader in breast cancer and gynaecological malignancies. She has published over 80 papers and led research teams in the HEFC Research Assessment Exercise. She became Medical Director of a Cancer Network until 2004 and then Medical Director of the Royal Surrey County Hospital. She was an elected member of the General Medical Council from during which she chaired the committee on standards and medical ethics and gave evidence to Select Committees of both Houses of Parliament. Hilary leads our global health proposition, Care System Redesign working across regional health ecosystems to redesign inter- organisational patient pathways and shift the provision of care to more appropriate settings. Hilary is the most senior clinician within our Life Sciences and Health practice – working with the ABPI on their approach to Big Data and with a devices firm to develop a modular, global service specification for a clinical condition.She also leads on clinical engagement and clinical service redesign across a range of engagements including whole system transformation programmes across several health economies to deliver reconfiguration to ensure sustainable aligned services. She leads on telemedicine, e-health and m-health and interfaces with the Department of Health on the Three Million Lives Campaign on telehealth and telecare. She has been supporting the National Specialist Commissioning Team with the reconfiguration of paediatric cardiac surgical services since In the past year she has overseen nearly 40 quality governance reviews in the NHS and has worked with Monitor to reviews several aspirant FTs. Prior to KPMG Hilary was Group Medical Director of Care UK where she led on clinical governance across the Group.
