1. What can you learn about the narrator from paragraphs #1-3? A.The narrator is a boy. No mention of gender assignment. B.The narrator is from the city. No mention of origin of narrator. C.The narrator has never visited this house before. CORRECT! – “Glennis” has to tell the narrator where to go in the house. D.The narrator is younger than Harris. No mention of narrator age.

#2 What is the reason why Harris switches bunks? A.His intestines have the same characteristics as sheep intestines. This may be true but there is not a reason for Harris to change his behavior based on this statement. B.He’s afraid his intestines will become unbalanced and cause him to lose his balance. True, but he still doesn’t need to switch bunks to avoid this. C. He’s afraid of his intestines becoming unbalanced. Again, not relevant to switching bunks. D.He believes that sleeping while facing the window will help him survive a fire. CORRECT! - If it wasn’t for his fear of fire, Harris would be more likely to stay in one bunk.

#3 What can be learned about the narrator in paragraph #8? A.The narrator is staying at this house for at least one year. No evidence to support this statement. B.The narrator’s parents cannot be trusted to care for him. CORRECT! - – A sheriff's deputy had to drive him to the house and he has experience with this situation of living away from his parents. C.The narrator has never been away from his parents. Narrator states that he has “done this many times.” D.All of the above. Statement C is categorically false.

#4 After reading this entire passage, what can we say is true about the character of Harris? A.He is capable of highly mischievous behavior. CORRECT! – We can’t be sure if any other option is more true than statement A. B.He lacks a formal education. We don’t have enough evidence to make this conclusion. C.He does not care for the narrator. Harris presents the inflated frog to the narrator as a gesture of goodwill and friendship. D.He is a serviceable carpenter. Harris sleeps in a small bunk. It is unlikely that he is capable of constructing the room in which he is sleeping.
