When you or someone else uses a computer or cell phone to cause harm or distress to other kids, this is called

 What are some of the positive things that can be gained by using the Internet?  Finding information  Talking to friends and meeting new people  Playing games  What are some others?

 Some kids like to play games, watch videos, do homework or send messages on a computer or cell phone.  If your parents say this is okay, then you are having fun.  Sometimes someone else’s fun is not fun for you.

 How would you feel if you got messages that said mean things like  “I hate you!”  “You are fat and ugly!”  “I’m going to beat you up!”  When language gets mean or scary and when it’s repeated over and over that’s Cyberbullying

 How might it feel if you have a bad experience online?  Upset  Angry  Hurt  Embarrassed  How else might you feel?

 What can you do to stop the cyberbully?  STOP  BLOCK  TELL

 Do not respond or talk back.  Save and print the bully’s s or message logs.

 Block the cyberbully.  Leave the chat room or web site and sign off the computer.

 Talk over how to handle the situation with a friend.  Tell your parents, teacher, or another trusted adult when you or someone else is being cyberbullied.

 Trust your feelings if they are uncomfortable.  Don’t share passwords with anyone except your parents or guardian.

 Think about what you are doing and STOP.  Don’t say it online if you wouldn’t say it to someone’s face.  How would you feel if you were the person being cyberbullied?  Could it happen to you?
