First Year Experience Florida Institute of Technology The mission of First Year Experience (FYE) is to assist new students in a successful transition to Florida Tech by providing advising and programming to increase student success and retention.

Who We Serve  All new students who enter the university with 29 credit hours or less  This includes first time in college (FTIC) and transfer students  FTIC students are assigned a First Year Advisor  Transfer students are assigned a Transfer Student Success Coordinator in either a primary or secondary capacity  All new students with 30 credit hours or more will work with a faculty advisor in his/her major department

What We Do  Provide academic advising, go over course registration, & explain the first year curriculum  Provide educational and social programming for all new students  Co-sponsoring a Local Trip Series that is open to all new students  FYE Workshop Series  Donut Day & Pizza Party  Familiarize and connect students to appropriate campus resources  Promote participation in student events and organizations  Reach out to students and check up on progress  Assist students on academic probation in the spring semester  2-3 mandatory meetings throughout the spring semester to support student success  Teach University Experience
