HELP (BEATLES) Help! I need some strong verbs. Help! I need a simile. Help! I need a sparkle word. Help! 6

When I was younger, so much younger than today. I never needed anybody's help in any way. I could write my ABC’s, my name, and other words, Now I need words to describe the “singing of the birds” Help me if you can with a strong noun. And I could really use a groovy “sound”. Help me let my reader see all around. Word Choice, please, please help me. 7

Now my words are stronger, stronger than before Now my words are stronger, stronger than before. I believe that strong word choice has opened up the door. When I write, you will see, hear, and you’ll understand, Just what I want to say, it’s all here in my plan. Help me if you can with a strong noun. And I really could use a groovy “sound”. Help my reader see all around. Word Choice, please, please help me. 8

HEY NOW! YOU’RE A CAMPER (ALLSTAR) Somebody once told me “don’t tell that scene, you show me” So I wrote my angry face was bright red I was feeling kind of glum so I chatted with my chum Who recited great words he had read Well the words start coming and they don't stop coming Lead with a snapshot; hit the ground running Didn't make sense to use that question Describe what you see and your lead gets done So much to show so much to see So what's wrong with using a snapshot They’ll never see if you don't go They’ll never feel if you don’t show

Hey now you're a Camper get your pencil, go write Hey now you're a Camper get your words on just right When all words glitter like gold Write Along Campers break the mold

My teacher once asked could I use some better tags I need to hear just how the people, they say I said yep I’ll change that word said I could use muttered instead Papers all need a little change Well the words start coming and they don't stop coming Lead with a snapshot; hit the ground running Didn't make sense to use that question Describe what you see and your lead gets done So much to show so much to see So what's wrong with using a snapshot They’ll never see if you don't go They’ll never feel if you don’t show 12

Hey now you're a Camper get your pencil, go write (LONG PAUSE) Hey now you're a Camper get your pencil, go write Hey now you're a Camper get your words on just right When all words glitter like gold Write Along Campers break the mold 13

I BELIEVE I CAN WRITE (I CAN FLY) I used to think that I could not write on My words were simple; not written very strong But now I know the meaning of word choice I'm using the ones I have to show my voice If you can see it, then they can see it If you just show it, they can’t help but know it !

I believe I can write I believe I can be precise I write the things I know everyday Show my thoughts and fly away I believe I can score I see me writing the best, a four I believe I can write I believe I can write I believe I can write

Since I was on the verge of writing well My teacher taught me how to show instead of tell There are readers in my life that I must please But first I know it starts inside of me If you can see it, then they can see it If you just show it, they can’t help but know it

I believe I can write I believe I can be precise I write the things I know everyday Show my thoughts and fly away I believe I can score I see me writing the best, a four I believe I can write I believe I can write I believe I can write

Cause I believe in me I believe I can be precise I write the things I know everyday Show my thoughts and fly away I believe I can write I believe I can be precise I write the things I know everyday

I WILL REVISE (I WILL SURVIVE) At first I was afraid, I was petrified It's so hard to fill a paper with just two sides. So I spent so many days just tryin’ to figure out, I finally did- what fourth grade writing's all about 19

And we practiced All that we knew-- Ideas, details, support, leads, and conclusions, too We are great writers. And you know we've known that all along, And we grew strong. Now we're Camp Write Along. Oh there I go, I wrote a four. You won't believe it. It's much better than before. Can you believe how much it changed since I revised? It has more sparkle. Now you know why I revise. 20

And I know I will revise And I go back and check my paper with a careful eye. I've got many words to use, Metaphors and similes to choose, I will revise, I will revise-hey, hey (LONG PAUSE) When I read that BA-DA-BING, I had to change that part. Description, dialogue, and questions-man that choice was hard. Or would that short sentence now catch my reader's eye.... And in the end, which conclusion would they buy? 21

And we practice writing great plans-- Well thought out details, so the reader understands. And if we check the prompt and plan, You know we know we won't go wrong, We are the Campers of Write Along. Oh there I go, I wrote a four. You won't believe it. It's much better than before. Can you believe how much it changed since I revised? It has more sparkle. And now you know why I revise. 22

(LONG PAUSE) And I know-I will revise I’ll go back and check my paper with a careful eye. I've got many words to use, Metaphors and similes to choose, I will revise, I will revise-hey, hey 23

WRITE, WRITE BABY (ICE, ICE BABY) Alright, STOP, elaborate and listen… 4th grade is back with a brand new convention. Someone, grip a pencil tightly, Writing compositions daily and nightly. 24

Will it ever stop. YO. I hope no. Turn off the lights and we’ll glow Will it ever stop? YO! I hope no! Turn off the lights and we’ll glow. To the extreme we rock a prompt like a vandal, Light up a page, illuminate like a candle. 25

DANCE! I like the words that move, They’re fun to read and make writing smooth. DEADLY! When we use those similes – Sharp as a tack – makes me happy! 26

Love it or hate it – you write anyway! The prompt’s not our choice, but we’ll write it, okay? If it is a problem, YO! we’ll solve it! Check out our skills as our writers compose it! Write, Write Baby 27
