Eric Carle The Author and Illustrator

Who is Eric Carle? Eric Carle is an author and illustrator of children’s books. What is an author? Someone who writes the words for the story. What is an illustrator? The person who draws the pictures for the book.

How can he be both? Eric Carle is a very talented man and can be both the author and illustrator because he believed in himself. He decided that it would be more fun to draw and write the story on his own so that it was all his own work. Could we be the author and illustrator if we wanted? Yes!! Just have to believe in yourself!

What are some of his books? The Very Hungry Caterpillar The Grouchy Lady Bug The Mixed-Up Chameleon The Very Busy Spider Little Cloud Draw Me a Star Little Seed And many more…

Why are we interested? Over the next few days we will be reading and doing different activities with a few of Eric Carle’s books. Each book has a different lesson that can be learned from it as well as an art project attached to it. In the end we will have learned about a few different topics while still having fun. Lets get started!
