14 Illustrations What do you notice about his pictures?
Do they have lots of colors? Are they very drab? Do they look like real life? How do you think he gets his pictures to look like they do? Do you think you could do something like this?

15 Collage Eric Carle makes his pictures by painting pieces of paper, then cutting them up into shapes that look like people or animals We call cutting paper up to make a new picture a collage Have you ever taken pictures our of a magazine then cut them up and glued them to another paper to make a bigger picture? This would be incredibly easy to make a art centered lesson plan out of, I would have the children use Carle’s method to make a animal of their own.

16 A great author and illustrator
He moved away from America as a young boy, but came back when he was a grown up He went to an art college in Germany Eric Carle was already almost 40 by the time he started making books He has made and helped make lots and lots of books Even though he is now old he still makes books He uses collage and bright colors to illustrate
