Writing Writing Writing What is it all about?

Personal Narrative Writing Organization – Using the Flee Map I had a job working in the cafeteria during breakfast times in college. One day, I was late for work. First, Then, Last, Woke up Dressed Cafeteria Clocked in Serving Line Curlers/slippers Dark Uniform Keys disoriented Clock_____ Panic_____ Working in the cafeteria was not a very exciting job, but the day I was late certainly is a day I will remember. Not only was I late, but I was embarrassed by not being fully dressed for work.

Late for Work Tick, tock. Tick, tock. Tick, tock. My eyes slowly opened as I could hear the sound. There was a little light coming through the window. What was that sound? Where was it coming from? As I searched with my eyes around the room, my eyes stopped on the maker of the tick, tock. That’s when I realized I was late for work. I panicked immediately! Next, I had to get dress quickly. I couldn’t turn the light on, because my roommate was still asleep. I had to get dressed in the dark. I found my uniform without any problems, because I had it laid out the night before over the door. Finding my keys weren’t so easy. I finally found them on my dresser. Last, I went to the cafeteria. I had to clock in. I was 30 minutes late. I went to the serving line and helped serve breakfast. While I was serving breakfast, I realized I was wearing curlers in my hair and slippers on my feet. Working in the cafeteria was not a very exciting job, but the day I was late certainly is a day I will remember. Not only was I late, but I was embarrassed by not being fully dressed for work.

Late for Work Adding “juicy words” Tick, tock. Tick, tock. Tick, tock. My sleepy eyes slowly opened as I could hear the sound. There was a little light peaking through the window. I had to get dressed in the shadows of the dark room. I searched for my red and white striped uniform without any problems, because I had it laid out the night before over the door. Finding my keys wasn’t so easy. I finally discovered them on my dresser. Last, I sprinted to the cafeteria like a cheetah in the wild. I had to clock in. I was 30 minutes late. After explaining to my boss what happened, I went to the serving line and helped serve breakfast which consisted of steaming hot scrambled eggs with white shredded cheese on top, mouth-watering sausage and crispy bacon. While I dishing up breakfast, I realized I was wearing curlers in my hair and slippers on my feet. Oh no, I thought. This is certainly not my day! May be I should have just stayed in bed. Working in the cafeteria was not a very exciting job, but the day I was late certainly is a day I will remember. Not only was I late, but I was embarrassed by not being fully dressed for work.

Late for Work Late for Work Working in the cafeteria was not a very exciting job, but the day I was late certainly is a day I will remember. Not only was I late, but I was embarrassed by not being fully dressed for work. Oh, well. Being late for work wasn’t the worst thing that has happened to me. I even laugh about it now. To this very day, however, I still get nervous about not hearing my alarm clock. I still use the same alarm clock that I had when I was in college. Every night I make sure to check it so that it will go off at the time I set it for. As a back up I set my watch - just in case. Better Ending

Where was it coming from? As I searched with my eyes around the room, my eyes stopped on the maker of the tick, tock. That’s when I realized I was late for work. I panicked immediately! Panicking wasn’t going to solve the problem. So, I got ready quickly. I couldn’t turn the light on, because my roommate was still asleep. I put my clothes on in the shadows of the dark room. I searched for my red and white striped uniform without any problems, because I had it laid out the night before over the door. Finding my keys wasn’t so easy. I finally discovered them on my dresser. As soon as I was dressed, I sprinted to the cafeteria like a cheetah in the wild. I had to clock in. I was 30 minutes late. Assignment: Rewrite the final draft of your “late story.” Change your ending and edit for correct conventions.
