R ESURRECTION E VENTS Jesus’ Purpose

T ODAY ’ S B IBLE V ERSE T ODAY ’ S B IBLE V ERSE He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Matthew 28:6

P ALM S UNDAY 2000 years ago, a king was visiting their city. People lined the streets of the city hoping to get to see the King. The King came riding on a small donkey, and as he rode through the streets of the city, the people waved palm branches and shouted,

H OSANNA "Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!“ I'm sure that you know who that King was -- it was Jesus. And this is what we call, Palm Sunday.

J ESUS IS C RUCIFIED ! Jesus was arrested, beaten, dragged through the street, and placed on a cross to die…for our sins.

J ESUS IN THE T OMB On the Sunday morning after Jesus was crucified, two women named Mary went to visit the tomb where Jesus had been buried. When they arrived, there was a great earthquake and an angel came and rolled away the huge stone that had been covering the entrance to Jesus' tomb. He sat on the stone and said to the two women,

W HERE IS J ESUS ? "Do not be afraid; I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for he has been raised, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay." You see, the stone was not rolled away so that Jesus could get out of the grave, it was rolled away so that his followers could go in and see that the tomb was empty.

J ESUS IS ALIVE!!!!! He is alive, and because He is alive He is alive, and because He is alive, we too can have a new life in Him.

T ODAY ’ S B IBLE V ERSE T ODAY ’ S B IBLE V ERSE He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Matthew 28:6

T ODAY ’ S P RAYER Dear Lord, today we celebrate the empty grave. We thank you that Jesus is not in the grave. He is risen, and because of that, we can have new life in Him. Amen.

Hosanna ! Hear the people cry. Riding on a donkey The King is passing by. Riding to Jerusalem Wave those palms and cheer - Jesus the Messiah The "promised one" is here. Easter Chant

Crucify ! Hear the people shout ! Tell governor Pilate To bring Jesus out. Crucify ! Hear the people cry - "He claimed to be our king, Now he must die !"

"Forgive them ! Forgive them ! They don't know what they do I'm willing to die On this cross for you. I'm your king, Lord, Messiah. It is finished ! I cry - For your sins to be forgiven God's Son must die "

He's risen ! See the joy on Mary's face. She came to the tomb And now she must race To tell the disciples - "We don't need to fear, Jesus has been raised to life. He's alive ! He's here ! " ….by: Don Stott, Feb 2002
