Arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane
Mock trials of Jews and trial before Pilate Beatings and scourging To the site of execution Statements while upon the cross: - "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing" (Luke 23:34). - "I tell you the truth, today you will be with Me in paradise" (Luke 23:39-43). - “’Dear woman, here is your son,’ and to the disciple, ‘Here is your mother’" (John 19:26-27). - "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?" "I thirst" (Matthew 27:45-50; John 19:28-29). - "Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit" (Luke 23:44-49). - "It is finished" (John 19:28-30).

John 19:38-42 Joseph of Arimathea… came and took the body of Jesus. And Nicodemus …also came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes… Then they took the body of Jesus, and bound it in strips of linen with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury. 41 Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid. 42 So there they laid Jesus… rolled a great stone across the entrance and departed. (Mark 16:4)

Matthew 27:62-66 Next day, that is, after the day of Preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered before Pilate and said, "Sir, we remember how that impostor said, while he was still alive, 'After three days I will rise.' Therefore order the tomb to be made secure until the third day, lest his disciples go and steal him away and tell the people, 'He has risen from the dead,' and the last deception will be worse than the first." …66 So they went and made the tomb secure by sealing the stone and setting a guard.

1Corinthians 15:16-20 if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in this life only we have hoped in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the first-fruits of those who have fallen asleep.

Matthew 28:1,5-6 Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. …5 But the angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.”

The guards and authorities
- Matthew 28:2-4, 11-15

Matthew 27:62-64 the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered before Pilate and said, "Sir, we remember how that impostor said, while he was still alive, 'After three days I will rise.' Therefore order the tomb to be made secure…”

Matthew 28:2-4 …there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men.

Matthew 28:11-15 some of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests all that had taken place. And when they had assembled with the elders and taken counsel, they gave a sufficient sum of money to the soldiers and said, "Tell people, 'His disciples came by night and stole him away while we were asleep.' And if this comes to the governor's ears, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble." So they took the money and did as they were directed. And this story has been spread among the Jews to this day.

Matthew 16:26 What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?

The guards and authorities - Matthew 28:2-4, 11-15
2. The disciples - Matthew 28:16-20 - Acts 2:22-38

Matthew 28:16-20 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

Acts 2:24,32,37-38 God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it… 32 This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses… 37 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" 38 And Peter said to them, "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Acts 17:30-33 “…God now commands all people everywhere to repent, because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead." Now when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked. But others said, "We will hear you again about this." So Paul went out from their midst. But some joined him and believed…
