EU-IndiaGrid (RI ) is funded by the European Commission under the Research Infrastructure Programme Sergio Fantinel (INFN-Padova/LNL) EU-India Grid Kick-off Meeting, October 2006, Trieste, Italy WP4 Pilot grid infrastructure operational support

EU-IndiaGrid (RI ) is funded by the European Commission under the Research Infrastructure Programme WP4 Resources and Objectives Part. INFNCAMERNETCDACBARCTIFR PeM Define and agree the common security and authentication framework Define the strategy for European and Indian Grids interoperability and provide an assessment about the key services Study and test of advanced services (grid monitoring, policy and resource brokering, accounting) in order to achieve a production quality infrastructure to be used by the applications

EU-IndiaGrid (RI ) is funded by the European Commission under the Research Infrastructure Programme WP4 Tasks (1/2) T4.1 - Establish GARUDA - EGEE interoperability Compare of GARUDA functional architecture and services with EGEE services and tools and propose suitable solutions for the interoperability of the two (M1-M7) T4.2 - Define a common security and authentication framework Agree on the security policies with an Indian certification authority trusted from EU countries and trusting EU certification authorities. Carry out studies on the use of Virtual Organizations and related Grid tools in an Intercontinental environment. (M1-M24)

EU-IndiaGrid (RI ) is funded by the European Commission under the Research Infrastructure Programme WP4 Tasks (2/2) T4.3 - Operational support of advanced Services monitoring, brokering, policy and accounting management Extend and support the usage of Advanced Grid tools in GARUDA making profit of the past experience of European partners and the acquired know-how of some Indian partners. Study grid monitoring tools and ensure a production quality service available to pilot and new applications (M1-M24)

EU-IndiaGrid (RI ) is funded by the European Commission under the Research Infrastructure Programme WP4 Deliverables D4.1 Common Security and Certification Authority This deliverable will present an overview of the state of the art for a common Security and CA tools. M05 D4.2 Guidelines for CA and RA procedures This deliverable gives detailed guidelines regarding CA and RA procedures and operation. M10 D4.3 GARUDA and EGEE interoperability report This report will present the state of the GARUDA and EGEE interoperability and summarise the final assessment of infrastructure operations. M24

EU-IndiaGrid (RI ) is funded by the European Commission under the Research Infrastructure Programme WP4 Milestones M4.1 Policies and Certification Authority check This milestone marks the final check about policies and CA operation M06 M4.2 First studies of Pilot Grid services interoperability This marks the point where the initial studies of services interoperability is completed over a Pilot Grid infrastructure. M08 M4.3 Operational support of advanced services achieved This marks the point where the Operational support of Advanced Services is achieved and a production service is available for applications. M12

EU-IndiaGrid (RI ) is funded by the European Commission under the Research Infrastructure Programme WP4 interdependences with other WPs Network Middleware Users Promotion WP5: Applications 5.1: EGEE applications (ALICE, CMS) WP6: Dissemination WP4: Pilot infrastructure operational support WP3: Network Planning and Support 6.1: Promotion & Dissemination Activities 6.2: International workshops 4.2: Define and implement the security and authentication framework 4.1: Define the deployment strategy for Indian Grids and deploy Key services 5.2: Biology applications 5.3: Condensed matter Physics applications 4.3: Study and deployment of Advanced Services WP2: Building an eScience Network Community 2.2: Identifying industries, SMEs & international performers interested in Grid Infrastructures 2.1: Identifying researchers & RTD performers interested in Grid infrastructures 2.3: Relationships with other Projects 2.4: Sustainable Actions 6.5: EU-India GRID Portal Development & Mantainance 3.2: Network Support 4.4: Promote the development of existing and new grid Infrastructures in India 6.4: Follow-up activities 6.3: Training Events 3.1: Network connectivity plan 5.4: Earth and Atmospheric Sciences

EU-IndiaGrid (RI ) is funded by the European Commission under the Research Infrastructure Programme WP4 facts and work plan (1/3) It is mandatory for applications (WP5) to have a functional pilot infrastructure: –Network connectivity (WP3): although the limited BW, all partners are connected; sufficient to start a pilot infrastructure –Grid MW interoperability (WP4): EGEE and GARUDA are based on GLOBUS (in principle interop. is possible) but there is a lot of work to do

EU-IndiaGrid (RI ) is funded by the European Commission under the Research Infrastructure Programme WP4 facts and work plan (2/3) The CA work is mandatory to have an interoperable pilot grid infrastructure: it is already started and in a good shape; THEN we need to identify resources (HW) so to be able to start playing with MW interoperability tests and where applications can run We need to identify all the services that EGEE and GARUDA/DAE Grid have already in place so to be evaluated to be part of the pilot grid infrastructure

EU-IndiaGrid (RI ) is funded by the European Commission under the Research Infrastructure Programme WP4 facts and work plan (3/3) …but, first of all… we need to identify people participating to the WP4 and create a core team Due to the heavy dependency on the WP4 work, it is recommended that WP5 contribute from the beginning to the WP4 mission

EU-IndiaGrid (RI ) is funded by the European Commission under the Research Infrastructure Programme Thank you very much indeed
