"Holiday" Say, hey! Hear the sound of the falling rain Coming down like an Armageddon flame (Hey!) The shame The ones who died without a name Coming down like Armageddon flame NEXT

Hear the dogs howling out of key To a hymn called "Faith and Misery" (Hey!) And bleed, the company lost the war today I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies This is the dawning of the rest of our lives On holiday Hear the drum pounding out of time Another protester has crossed the line (Hey!) To find, the money's on the other sidekey NEXT

Can I get another Amen? (Amen!) There's a flag wrapped around a score of menAmen (Hey!) A gag, a plastic bag on a monument I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies This is the dawning of the rest of our lives On holiday (Hey!) (Say, hey!) NEXT

(3,4) "The representative from California has the floor“has the floor“ Sieg Heil to the president Gasman Bombs Sieg Heil to the president Gasman Bombs away is your punishment Pulverize the Eiffel towers Who criticize your government Bang bang goes the broken glass and Kill all the…that don't agree Bang bang NEXT

 A simile is a comparison using like or as  Armageddon is the final battle fought between good and evil  So it means the rain is coming down like bullets; very, very hard BACK

 Onomatopoeia is using words to describe sounds  Bang bang refers to gun shots BACK

 The Armageddon flame is the last battle before the end of the worldArmageddon  So the composer might think the war is going to lead to the end of the world BACK

 It starts with a pause and then opens into a sort of poem  This is the phrase that introduces the caesura BACK

 A free verse is a pause followed by something different then than what came before  This is the first phrase of the free verse BACK

 Holiday is about the American government and humanity during the Iraqi War. The song starts out saying how the thousands of deceased Iraqis and Americans are unknown to most American citizens. Meaning the majority of Americans don’t know what’s going on over in the war. It is also about the protesters finding out the pro-war was more powerful than they could ever get in their life.Iraqi Warprotesters NEXT

 There is also irony about a Christian’s feeling accepts the war: "Can I get another 'Amen'? There's a flag wrapped around the score of men." To go “On Holiday” is to go on vacation, like an escape, Boulevard Of Broken Dreams. BACK

 Trials by fire, setting fire Is not a way that's meant for me Just cause, just cause, because we're outlaws yeah! I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies This is the dawning of the rest of our lives I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies This is the dawning of the rest of our lives This is our lives on holiday
