A Greener Shade of Chemistry An example of how to prepare your presentation

General rules for making PPT Presentations Start broad, get specific and end broad. When presenting you should: face your audience make eye contact be enthusiastic vary your tone of voice DO NOT READ YOUR SLIDES!

General rules for making PPT Presentations Practice before presenting. Provide a handout of your power point slides to your teacher.

Font colour/ background colour clear and readable SLIDE LAYOUT Font size 18+ Font colour/ background colour clear and readable Each slide: Heading Simple image Two or three points Unveil your lists one by one Text blocks no more than 2 lines each Lists no more than 3 items: avoid sub- lists Be generous with empty space Include references for all ideas and images Consistent style Avoid flashy animations

Font Size You must be sure that your slides are large enough to read!

Font colour Choose your font colour carefully and keep it consistent Some colours are difficult to read on certain backgrounds. Some colours are difficult to read on certain backgrounds. Some colours are difficult to read on certain backgrounds. Some colours are difficult to read on certain backgrounds. Some colours are difficult to read on certain backgrounds.

Background Choose your background colour carefully and keep it consistent through the whole show.

For Each Slide Have a heading A picture Two or three points

Lists When you have a list of information Reveal them one by one Not all at once Keep the animations simple Not like those!

Do not do this! Do not write very long paragraphs when you are creating a powerpoint presentation because they are difficult to read and do not look good on the screen. Besides, the information you give on a powerpoint presentation should be precise and to the point. You should not ramble on so that your audience gets bored!

Lists When you create lists: Keep the list to three or four points Do not add five or six points Avoid making sub lists like this: Sub lists are not desirable They make the presentation too long
