What is the subject? The young girl waited quietly for her mother. girl – this word tells who performed the action of waiting

Is the subject a noun or pronoun? The young girl waited quietly for her mother. noun– it is a word for a person

What part of speech is young? The young girl waited quietly for her mother. adjective – this word describes the noun “girl”.

What is the verb? The young girl waited quietly for her mother. waited – this word tells what action the girl did.

What part of speech is quietly? The young girl waited quietly for her mother. adverb – this word tells how the girl waited

What part of speech is for? The young girl waited quietly for her mother. preposition

What is the prepositional object? The young girl waited quietly for her mother. mother– this word tells for whom the young girl waited

Does the verb “waited” have a direct object? The young girl waited quietly for her mother. no– there is no noun or pronoun directly receiving the action of waited
