What are the three states of Matter? Solid Liquid Gas

Solid A solid takes up a specific amount of space and has a definite shape. A solid does not lose its shape.

Liquid A liquid has a volume that stays the same, but it can change its shape. A liquid takes the shape of any container it is put into.

Gas It does not have a definite shape of the container or a definite volume. It takes up all the space in the container.

Atoms The basic building blocks of matter Some pieces of matter are so small that you can see them by using a special tool.

Evaporation The process of which a liquid becomes a gas. Particles break apart from each other completely.

Volume The amount of space matter takes up Scientists measure volume by using tools

Mass All matter has mass. It is the amount of matter in an object. You can’t tell how much mass an object has if you just look at it. You have to measure to find out how much mass an object has.
