A moral dilemma to ponder Pete, who guards the results of Academy Award voting, is approached at a New Years Eve party by a famous actor named Don. Look, Don says, I want to win the Oscar badlyif youll make sure my name ends up on the list of nominees, and then rig the voting so I win the award, Ill donate $100 million to charities to help poor children in Africa. If you refuse, Ill spend all that cash as selfishly as I can. Petes thinking it over. He knows its a bribe, but its also a chance to do a huge amount of good for people in need. Pete himself will probably never have $100 million to donate to a good cause: he wonders if he needs to do this good deed and make a major positive difference in the world. Pete can either accept or refuse the bribe. What should he do? Why?

A 2 nd moral dilemma to ponder Jane is a police officer whos been investigating John for months. Based on what shes seen, she feels sure that Johns responsible for numerous thefts, assaults, and several murders, but she cant find enough evidence to put him to trial. This morning, Jane was talking with another officer, and learned that they have evidence to put John on trial for a recent murder. The problem is, as they were talking, Jane realized that she had been following John that evening as part of her investigation, and that he wasnt at the scene of the crime when the murder was committed. If she speaks up, the charges will be dropped, and John will walk free. Should Jane tell the other officer what she knows about John, or allow him to be convinced of a crime he didnt commit?
