Directions: Please circle the answer that best fits what you believe. The information will used to help us decide what out need will be for our service learning project. Thank you from Mr. Rogan’s fourth-grade class. 1.) Are you a boy or a girl? 2.) What is your favorite subject? A.) Science B.) Math C.) Reading D.) Social Studies E.) Other 3.) If we had enough money what would you want to buy for the school? A.) Broken things like “head phones” B.) P.E. equipment or recess like “scoter boards” C.) Healthy food like “apples” D.) Things to help us like “markers” E.) Other 4.) What is your favorite holiday? A.) Christmas B.) Easter C.) Valentines Day D.) Halloween E.) Other

For the mean you would add all the numbers on the left that that the numbers fall under and divide them. Divide the sum of your addition and how many numbers there are. If you have a remainder, drop it and the remainder won’t be in your answer. Your mean in this would be 3 Then you do the median by: Putting all of the numbers in order from least to greatest. You pick the number in the middle. In this case it would be three. After that you would do mode. Mode is the number you see the most out of all of them. NOT the number that is the most! There is not a mode in this problem because there are three three’s and three two’s. They are equal. Finally there is range. This is where you subtract the highest number minus the smallest. If all of the numbers are about the same in mean, median, mode, and range then don’t kick the biggest number out, but if they aren’t kick the biggest number out. You can tell if you need to by drawing a straight line where most of the dots are and if one is way above or below that line then kick that number out and do mean, median, mode and range again so your sample will fit your population.

We, Mr. Rogan’s 4 th grade class went out and took pictures of some things that were all over the school. Some of the stuff we took pictures of was broken P.E equipment. We need the pictures because that was the evidence witch became the categories of the questions. Then we sent out a survey to all of the kids in the school and most of the kids thought we needed more P.E and recess equipment. Thank you

 We need P.E. because it helps us get stronger. It also helps us be in shape. It helps us corporate with others.  With government votes show that 15% of kids or, about 9 million, are overweight.  According to a recent UNC survey, 32% of parents are concerned about their children becoming overweight.  Improves self esteem, and self control and it also improves weight reduction.  Reduces risk of heart disease and increases their love of school and performance and academics  The mental skills one develops in a physical education are problem- solving skills. If taught correctly, it can develop a sense of self If taught correctly, it can develop a sense of self  Helps build and maintain healthy bones, muscles, and joints.  Helps controls weight and obesity.  P.E reduces the feeling of depression and anxiety.  If you take P.E out of the schools kids don’t do as well on their work, so they will get lower grades and be sad.  Promotes psychological well-being. If kids don’t feel good about themselves in what they do physically then they won’t feel good about themselves in the grades they get and won’t set goals for themselves.  We think that if we took P.E out of school plans then more kids will get bigger and bigger until almost all of the kids in America are obese. Because we spend 5 out of 7 days at school and if we sit on the chairs all day that will make it worse.

We learned all about what to eat and not to eat. We know what kinds of foods help us in exercise. We also know how much energy and the kind of energy food has. We also know how to read labels to tell if it has stuff in it that is good for us. We know the following words: calories, protein, saturated fat, carbohydrates, fiber, and sodium. The heart is a muscle. Just like any other muscle it needs to be strengthened. Aerobic and anaerobic exercise do this. We learned how to diagnose how we feel using our pulse, hydration level, and perceived level of exertion. We also learned about some muscles and tendons in our legs. We learned how to use Microsoft Excel to create graphs. They make looking at information really easy. We used the information to generalize from the sample to the population during our survey. We learned how to calculate sales tax, mean, median, mode, and range. We also know why they are important to samples and populations.
