The Second Continental Congress After Britian refused to meet their list of demands from the letter, delegate gathered again in Philadelphia in Spring of 1775.

New Army Congress decided to create a new army called the Continental Army. Soldiers were trained like the British Soldiers. New commander and officer in charge of the army was, George Washington.

The Olive Branch Petition Delegates from the Continental Congress really did not want to go to war with Britian. Congress made one more try at peace with Britian. In July 1775, the delegates sent King George III the Olive Branch Petition. Which was a symbol of peace. This was sent to end the conflict. King George did not even read the Olive Branch Petition. Instead he sent some soldiers to the colonies.

Ticonderoga Washington spent the next 9 months turning the colonial militia into a real army. Americans invade Fort Ticonderoga. They captured the fort and its cannons. Soldiers dragged the cannons to Boston. When British solders saw the cannons they decided to leave Boston. This was a success for the Colonists, but the was just beginning.
