FACTORS AFFECTING PARTICIPATION

What sports do you take part in? Why do you take part in those sports?

Social Groupings The people who are around us and the society that we live in can have a large affect on the participation of individuals.

Peer Groups These are the people who are the same age and status as you. This is considered to be one of the most powerful influences on any person – ‘peer pressure’.

Family Family, especially parents, can greatly influence participation.

Gender Even though sexual discrimination has been seriously reduced, some does still exist. Ethnicity People’s ethnic background, countries that people live in, traditions.
