WMS: Let’s ROAR to Success! Walkersville Middle School

What do the letters in ROAR stand for? What is PBIS? Warm-up: Take out a half sheet of paper! On it, write answers to the following questions. What do the letters in ROAR stand for? What is PBIS? How can you receive pawllars at school?

Now create a Graffiti Wall! Turn the chalkboard/white board into a graffiti wall ABOUT WAYS TO ROAR TO SUCCESS. This could include images or words (school appropriate of course!) What do you know about “roaring” to success? What does this look like in the classroom? What does this look like in the hallway? What does this look like on the bus? Go up in groups of 4 students at a time…you have 2 minutes for each group!

Discussion Time: What ended up on your class’s graffiti wall? How does it compare to what you see at school? Does your wall include things that you could improve upon? What’s the difference between ROAR-ing to success and simply doing what is required?

PBIS is….. PBIS Stands for: Positive Behavior Intervention and Support This organization is what recognizes YOU for appropriate behavior, good grades, and great attendance! Examples: Pawllars, Unity Days, End of the Year Raffle, etc.

ROAR IS….. ROAR Stands for: RESPECT ORGANIZE ACHIEVE RESPONSIBLE DISCUSS AGAIN: What does it mean to do these things in the classroom? On the bus? In the hallway?
