Using the UC Davis online URI Database
Step 1 Two easy ways to find URI online database: – Click on Shelter Health Portal Click on URI Project in Left Menu Database link is 2/3 down page –Website: home.cfm home.cfm Locate your shelter in the dropdown list Enter your password Click the Login button
Step 2 The menu list to the left allows you to move from data entry tables to reports and charts that are specific to your shelter. Enter data –Add incidents –Population –Intake Examine data –Charts: Incidence
Step 3 Adding a new case of URI disease –4 required entries Animal ID Intake Date Age Dx Date –Click on Submit –Outcome date and Outcome type are not required for the study but if you are able to input this data it will give you additional useful information
Step 4 Enter daily intake numbers: –Click on appropriate date Enter numbers for: –Juvenile –Adult –Click submit
Step 5 Enter daily shelter population of cats –Click on date Enter numbers –Healthy »Juveniles »Adults –Sick with URI »Juveniles »Adults Click on submit
Step 6 Monitoring your URI disease rate –Go to Charts Click on Incidence –Reading this chart Left axis- Incidence of URI disease in your shelter. (number of cats that get URI disease in your shelter per 1000 cat days*) Horizontal axis- dates *Note: A cat day is recorded for every day a cat spends in the shelter and is not sick with URI.
