Learning Objectives Investigate businesses we use and know Explore the difference between a good and a service NO IDEA I NEED HELP NEVER HEARD OF IT OK I CAN DO THIS WITH SUPPORT SOME GUIDANCE NEEDED NEARLY AT MY TARGET GOT IT! VERY CONFIDENT WILL HIT MY TARGET GRADE EXCEED TARGET Success Criteria < CSelect a range of suitable questions to ask your self when coming up with a new business idea Identify enterprise skills needed in a scenario C >Select a large range of suitable questions to ask your self when coming up with a new business idea Explain a range of enteprise skills B > Go beyond the obvious, asking ‘what if?’ and judging the value of outcomes A >QOWC and SPAG LEARNING OBJECTIVES Investigate businesses we use and know Explore the difference between a good and a service

Starter Let’s assume we are all entrepreneurs. We are thinking about publishing a school magazine, which would include our article, perhaps even selling this for a small profit. What would we need to find out next? (note down some ideas in your books)

Questions we should be asking How much time would it take? how much to produce/sell? how much would we sell it for? Who would be involved? Who would buy it?, Where would we sell it what other articles would we use? How much profit would we make? Where would we get the equipment? Where will I go for advice and help? How do I set up the business? How will I research my market? Where will I locate my business?

What do questions allow an entrepreneur to do? Questions help identify problems, entrepreneurs use them to sort out issues and explore alternatives. Why? – E.g. Why do I make the change and set up my own business? Why not? – E.g. Why not set up my own business ? What? – E.g. What do you find interesting? How? Where? When?? What if? What if I leave my paid job and do not earn any money from my new business for the first twelve months? What if my business loses money? What if I fall ill? An entrepreneur should ask the ‘what if?’ question every time a decision is made

All list 6, Excellent if you can list 8 or more... What skills would we need for our magazine?
