The ability to exercise restraint or control over one's feelings, emotions, reactions, etc.

Self Control This ability, which depends on the prefrontal cortex of your brain. It provides the basis for mental flexibility, social skills and discipline.

We must encourage our children to be in control of their own thinking and/or creativity.

An internally motivated approach to building self-control plays to traditional American strengths.
