Presentation transcript:

Some problems that are being dealt with are world hunger, children with AIDs, poverty, and environmental disasters.

The problems happen all over the world in places such as Africa, Australia, North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. Probably not Antarctica

Over 14,000 children die EACH DAY from world hunger! Over 27 million hungry children and families are in urgent need of help because of severe drought, high food prices, and civil conflict. The number of people that are suffering from world hunger is the highest is has ever been (about 1 billion world wide!).

A child’s growth will be underdeveloped. Their academic and motor skills will be impaired. Their underfed body will become more vulnerable to disease. They won’t have enough energy needed for school. If they survive to adulthood, their economic prospects will most likely be miserable. The recent global food crisis and economic downturn have added more than 115 million people to the ranks of the hungry over the last couple of years. A child dies from hunger-related causes every 7 seconds. Over 75 percent of the poor’s income is spent on food ● “I don’t even know what the kids are going to eat,” says a mother of five, Lochoro. Desperate to feed her children, she hopes to earn 400 shillings (about 25 cents) — so she can buy rats for meat.

Robert Pierce, a pastor and evangelical missionary started World Vision. He was confronted with the need of one little girl. He pledged a monthly amount to a local missionary to ensure her care. World Vision developed its first child sponsorship program in Korea in 1953 to help orphaned children. World Vision began its global relief efforts in the 1960s, delivering food, clothing and medical supplies to people suffering from disaster.

World Vision raises donations and gets child sponsorships. It provides emergency relief to people who are in danger and addresses poverty issues and does missionary work. It also helps with hungry families and disaster relief efforts.

World Vision has many locations all over the world, but it’s main headquarters in the U.S are near Seattle, Washington. World Vision serves around 100 countries such as Kenya, Mexico, Ghana, Sudan, Canada and many more.

There is no age limit. Whether you want to help as an individual, group, church, corporation, youth, or a family, there’s something for you.
