“How is your Project going?” My CLAHRC Fellowship year Miranda Fyfe, December 2011

What have I done?  Helped with early designs for: ‘CAPE’ study Hospital admissions study  Contributed to formal write-ups: GP/DN training analysis 24/7 advice line audit  Working jointly on an opinion piece Measurement in EOLC  And more … Attended Liverpool SDO conference Referee on a BioMed submission Cancer discussions review abstract screening

Challenges faced  Organisational Juggling an additional set of demands … … and the multiple materials accumulating Lack of admin support in core role   Practical Physical materials in two places IT: Dropbox is great, but only at home!  Mental A different type of work required: focussed and concentrating! Switching ‘hats’ regularly

What I have learned…  About “Research” What it can, and can’t reveal The work needed to set up, and time to do studies And how very, very much is out there!  About myself Once a copy-editor, always a copy-editor I *can* speed-read after all, if needed The importance of feeling part of a team  About the CLAHRC It’s more than just End of Life It’s exciting and innovative Its people are all so friendly, as well as talented
