Partner Logo Monitoring, assessing, measuring, understanding KM and communication work Ewen Le Borgne Knowledge management and communication for CRPs ILRI Ethiopia October 2012

What are we talking about?  What are we wondering about?  Now what?  And then what?

Our playing field Who is involved? Principles Purposes (accountability, learning, networking…) M&E phases (planning, collecting, analyzing etc.) M&E approaches and methods Statistics and metrics? Monitoring areas (comms, KM, research, all integrated)

What are we wondering about?

What stats and metrics do we have?  For traditional media?  For social media?  For other activities (face-to-face)?  And other information from occasional evaluations, impact assessment, audits etc.?

What are we wondering about? What is happening behind stats and metrics?  Who is using our information?  To do what?

What are we wondering about? What other important questions do we need to ask ourselves?  What comms/KM activities are effective and why?  How does this tie in with broader CRP M&E?  …?

What are we wondering about? How can we prove and improve our KM/comms for research?  Show that it helps  Develop ways to learn

Now what?

Check what’s going on

Now what? Wonder about…  Important areas to monitor in knowledge work?  Interesting approaches, metrics, indicators to assess knowledge work?  Important principles to conduct our assessment of K work?  Remaining questions to work on K work?

Now what? Plan how to work on this

And then what?

Identify other gaps… Come up with a plan to address those for CRPs etc.
