2 Capacity Needs Assessment (CNA)
SIF Currently undertaking a CNA for the livestock CRP to identify the project’s perceptions through staff partners and stakeholders. The CNA will focus on: Stakeholder analysis and power interest Individual and organizational scoring Social network analysis Problem tree analysis Partnerships Tools guide CapDev will liaise & collaborate with other cross-cutting areas, notably on: Youth engagement Business development Support media

SIF CNA Plan of work: Design and mobilise: June-Aug 2017 Implement the CNA: Sept-Oct 2017 Target countries: 7* in total –Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, Tunisia, Nicaragua, Vietnam and Kenya (*budget permitting) Report writing: Nov-Dec 2017 CNA outcome: Capacity needs assessment report: country specific as well as overall Livestock CRP Report Capacity development strategy document

Simple opt in (call and hang up to register or “flash to join” system) Development of IVR system September Testing the SMS / IVR October Writing up reports Satellite Index Insurance for Pastoralists in Ethiopia (SIIPE) Re-purpose of IBLI e-Learning content for Ethiopian project with WFP Online mobile enabled learning resources September Developing E-Learning and offline content October Implementing SIIPE online and offline resources

Developing learning materials for the environmental impact tool for different depths of understanding . Surface Non-expert users Deeper Experts and scientists Media assets Assessments Retrieval practice through quizzes and assessments throughout the learning.

7 Looking ahead to 2018 POWB The CNA should hopefully provide more targeted opportunities for continued work, building on 2017 work. Engagement with LLAFS and Feeds & Forages – both on bilateral projects and on (hopefully reinstated) W1/2 funding.
