Using this Tab, you can import data from external sources including but not limited to: Text files Microsoft Access databases Web pages XML documents Microsoft SQL Server databases We will show you how to import data from a Microsoft Access database and also a text file

Start a brand new Workbook First we will import a wedding database (wedding.accdb) from My Documents folder The data was imported a table with Filtering and Sorting capabilities We also have a customer list in the form of a text file and would like to get this information into Microsoft Excel 2007 Lets see these two imports in action

you can sort and filter your data on one or more columns Sorting is more for ascending and descending order Filtering is more for a specific value We will do the following using this group: Sort customer by State using A -> Z Sort customers by Order Date using Z -> A Custom Sort on State first then Order Date

Will cover these in Advanced Video Training Text to Column option is useful when lets say you have data that did not import well Remove Duplicates is an AWESOME feature that will help you clean up redundant data Lets switch to Excel and look at these Customer data that needs to be fixed We will copy Wedding Category to remove duplicates

You can Group/Ungroup of rows or columns under the Outline group This comes in handy when you have a complicated Excel workbook with lots and lots of information In such times, it makes sense to collapse and expands rows or columns of information Using the Customer data we can group by two states e.g. CA and TX
