Presentation transcript:

Re-Cap The presentation resulted in a better understanding of the following: What IP is Trade Secrets Patents Trademarks Copyrights DRM

Things I Did Well Started broad, then focused towards DRM Mom’s “secret” recipe – Trade Secret Monsanto case – Patents Utilized chalkboard DRM video Inviting discussion about these controversial issues.

If I had more time… …I would have: Created an IP activity/game Discuss the background behind how IP rights came about Include more videos further explaining each topic Focused on “how to” and legality issues with obtaining either a Patent, Trademark, or Copyright Explain how DRM actually works Find the code for software protected by DRM By incorporating these additional items the class would have gained more from the presentation.

Finding Reliable Sources What I did: Used Google to find articles about the topic Made sure content was appropriate Research the author as well as the company or foundation that sponsored the article. What I did not do: Utilize the library’s large collection of journals Use textbooks Personal Interviews with experts in the field If I expanded my research methods I could have had more knowledge surrounding each topic. For class purposes, and to protect myself from copyright infringement, I chose to stick with public and easily accessible information.
