To determine whether coaching or training was successful  Obtain feedback from the coach or trainer  Speak to the employee to find out how they feel if coaching was successful  Observe the employees performance to detect improvements in performance  Evaluate the employees performance in light of agreed targets  Conduct a review meeting with the employee at the conclusion of the coaching program

 schedule a confidential meeting with the employee  Set and maintain a positive note  Be cooperative professional and focussed  You must be objective and calm at all times. Give the employee opportunity to respond to comments. Listen don’t lecture  Seek clarification  End on a positive note – at end of meeting emphasise the positives that have come out of the discussion

 Prepare a written summary of the session. Copy for yourself and employee  Follow up with employee
