Found Poetry By Ms Naus PJCVS Enrichment

Found Poetry Poetry that is created from taking text written by someone else and arranging the sentence and adding punctuation to create new meaning or a new poem. The poem is “found” in another piece of writing.

Example from Twilight I shouldn't have. His tone was hard. "Your thinking is insane. Challenged doesn't matter." Gritting teeth and Gasped deep breaths paused. My curious, composed voice Was suddenly old. How long had I been staring at the road While please that he was honest? Eyes worried wider during the daytime, Burned by the sun. -words/ phrases from page 185 of Twilight by Stephenie Meyer From

Diary of a Wimpy Kid To give you an idea of how people will go out of their way to stay away from the Cheese, it’s sitting right under the only hoop with a net in it, but nobody’s played on that court for a year. (Day 4)

Steps Find a piece of text (can be from a novel, an article, a cartoon, etc) Choose a couple of sentences that you like. Re-format the sentence to create a poem. E.g. “He walked quickly and grabbed her hand.”  He walked. Quickly grabbed Her Hand. Then publish!!

How to Publish Found Poetry Glogster: twilight/ Wordle: ary_of_a_Wimpy_Kid%3A_Day_4
