A new Centre has been established to support the three multi-professional NW workforce networks of Pharmacy, Healthcare Science & Allied Health Professions to engage with key stakeholders and work multi- professionally within the new NHS.

The North West Centre for Professional Workforce Development (CPWD) has been established by the 4 Professional Workforce Leads with the full support of NHS North West. It will provide a single point of access to 30,000 healthcare staff across the 60 professions of Healthcare Science, Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions working in the North West. What is the CPWD?

Multi-professional, collaboration and influencing  A unique, strategic partnership working across a wide range of diverse multi-professional and specialist groups.  Enabling collaboration and participation within all sectors and at all levels.  Offering the opportunity for workforces to have greater professional influence within the NHS.  Led by highly experienced Workforce Leads who have been supporting their Professional Workforce Networks over the past decade.

Adding value to existing workforce streams  Maximising opportunities to support the delivery of NHS priorities and health & well-being outcomes.  Promoting the development of effective, strategic relationships with local & national stakeholders.  Supporting network representatives to work with key stakeholders.  Ensuring multi-professional engagement.

 To achieve the Education, Public Health and NHS Outcomes Frameworks.  Supporting the development of workforces to deliver excellent healthcare & health improvement.  Sharing innovation and good practice across professional networks.  Horizon scanning to anticipate future workforce requirements.  Providing workforce intelligence. Supporting Service Providers & Commissioners

Multi-professional Leadership programme Develop a multi-professional leadership development programme – summer 2013 Link to AQUA and NW Leadership Academy work streams Team approach – invite multi-professional teams to apply and work on a service improvement project ILM qualification

Workforce planning / profiling training programme Pilot currently underway with 80 participants from all 3 networks Collaboration with Skills for Health Introduction and Advanced options Evaluation of training programme to follow CPWD to support further workforce planning for all professions CPWD to work with Modernisation Hub on workforce re-profiling

NHS priorities and Innovation CPWD will work with new stakeholders to ensure all network members are linked into new work streams Pilot due in January 2013 for innovation development programme for Healthcare Scientists which could be rolled out as multi-professional programme CPWD will continue to look at new programmes / events / workshops to support networks to work differently and share best practice in new NHS Multi-professional task and finish groups around specific areas e.g. new Proton Beam Therapy service coming to Christie Hospital for workforce implications for Dosimetrists / Radiographers / Pharmacists?
