My Animal of the Future is the Fox Le Toise. In scientific terms, Vulpes pantlone*. *Vulpes pantlone is a mixture of:  Vulpes  Panthera pardus  Gechelone

My animal is a mixture of two mammals and one reptile. A fox, leopard, and a tortoise. Since it is a mammal/reptile, my animal has lungs. My animal has a vertebrae, fur, skin, claws, sharp teeth, and more. Contributions:  Fox: Head, tail, mouth.  Tortoise: Central body, shell, legs, feet.  Leopard: Spots.

My animal is an omnivore, although, it prefers meat if it is available. If they have to eat plants, their main picks would be:  Most leafs and foliage. Mostly the dark and leafy kind. The darker the healthier.  Vegetables: Carrots, cabbage, kale, spinach, carrots, squash and avocado. Although, carrots, squash and avocado are not always obtainable, so they don’t always get to eat those. But, if they were to attack an animal and get meat, it would usually be:  Mice, rats, rabbits, gophers, wild turkey, birds and chicken if there is any of them around the area. The fox side loves to steal things such as bird eggs, turtle eggs and other Fox Le Toise eggs.

My animal get it’s food just like a fox; it slowly stalks it’s animal prey and pounces when the time seems right. Although, it eats plants just like a tortoise, slowly grinds and chews once it finds what it wants.

Fox Le Toise usually travel alone, just like foxes, except when two Fox Le Toises mate. While the female is bearing the babies, the male finds food for the female so she doesn’t have to work too hard. The Fox Le Toise is warm blooded, which is why it tries to avoid getting in water. But, if it absolutely feel it has to, it will. Most of this species dig and burrow to keep warm during the seasons. The Fox Le Toise live near water but mainly stay on land. It avoids getting in water as much as it can. If they are away from their den and they are threatened, then they either retreat into their shell if the animal is fairly large (e.g. bears, wolves, cougars, etc.) or warn then attack if it is a smaller animal, or something like prey.

The only relationships that the Fox Le Toise has besides predator and prey, is one mutualism. When a mother is no longer able to take care of her babies, and the father is too far away to be called, foxes and tortoises will take the babies in. So, the babies get to live a healthy life, even without their mother, the mother is satisfied, and the foxes or tortoises get a new member to their family. Even though both foxes and tortoises are loners, they do have families and a mate that they take care of and that follow them. The new family member makes the pack look bigger so that other animals will leave them alone. This also means the family has one more hunter!

This species was first found in Central France. Scientist from everywhere requested them to be shipped to there home country, or even flew out to France themselves. They found out that Fox Le Toise live in mostly temperate places, on land but near water. Since the animal was shipped everywhere, it adapted to live in most anywhere except extremely dry places, deserts, and extremely cold places, the poles.

Fox Le Toise lay eggs, therefore, when you are born, you start out in a shell. Your mother will stay with you until you hatch. It takes about hours to break open your egg and breath air for the first time. You stick around with your mother and/or father for the first year or so, then detach from you parents and live on your own. During your years together with your parents, they taught you how to survive; how to get food, create a den, make alliances, and more. Then you live your next years surviving and waiting until the gathering of Fox Le Toise that happens every two years. Once it’s your time, you go to the nearest gathering grounds. This is where you find you one mate; once you mate, you are mated with this one Fox Le Toise forever. Then you spend a year bearing babies with your mate, then give birth to the eggs. You raise the babies for one or two years then send them on their way. You pass away peacefully and painlessly at an old age of ten years. That is, if you don’t get Killed in the process.

The Fox Le Toise uses all of its senses; touch, sight, sound, taste, and smell. All of them are very good, but it’s best are smell, sight, and hearing. The smell is for finding it’s family and prey. Its sight is for locking the prey on target. And the hearing is to find it’s prey underground. Like during the winter when mice scurry underneath the coat of snow, the Fox Le Toise can hear it, and dive into the snow to fetch the food.

This animal works perfectly fine with most animals except bears and cougars. Bears are found everywhere on the globe, and are the main enemy, but, cougars are only found in all of South America, the western region of North America, and a small part of Florida. It’s best allies are, of course, the fox and tortoise, who will defend themselves and you if you have a close enough relationship with them.

When the Fox Le Toise feels threatened, what it does to protect itself depends on what the opposing animal is. But, the Fox Le Toise never, ever runs, it’s short, stubby, tortoise legs disable it from running fast. If the animal is larger than the Fox Le Toise, it would retreat to it’s shell and stay quiet, whereas, if the animal is smaller and more like prey, the Fox Le Toise will sneak up on it, create it’s plan, and pounce.

The spots on the Fox Le Toise, that are the leopard’s contribution, disguise the Fox Le Toise when it is hiding from a predator or when it is waiting to pounce on a prey. The fox contributed the tail, which helps it keep balance, and the head, which, of course, eats and cleans it self. And the tortoise gives the legs, central body and shell.
