Food The fox eats the food it eats because its stomach can digest both plants and animals (see 1 st paragraph) and foxes live near where their food can be found. Berries and vegetables can be found in human gardens and in the woods. Mice, rabbits and birds can be found almost anywhere and fish and frogs can be found in and near streams and rivers. Foxes are omnivores. That means they eat both plants and other animals. Foxes eat berries, vegetables, fish, frogs, birds, mice and rabbits

Functions of a Fox The fox’s pelt changes color depending on the season to camouflage itself from predators The thick warm fur a fox helps it to keep warm and dry so it doesn't freeze Bushy tail lets the fox balance well

Preferred Fox Habitat A fox’s preferred environment is a forest because a pond, rainwater puddle or a lake would probably be nearby to supply water, the trees and bushes would provide shelter for sleeping or a den and most of what the fox eats also lives in a forest

Functions of a Fennec Fox The fennec fox’s black eyes help it see in dark environments Big ears allow the fennec fox to hear even the tiniest of sounds Thick pelt provides comfort against the hard ground

Food Source Fennec foxes, like red foxes, are omnivores. They live in the desert. They eat mice, birds, insects, small reptiles, eggs, fruit, leaves, roots. It eats the food it eats because the fennec fox can digest both plants and animals. Also the fennec fox eats that because its prey lives in the desert as well. The fennec fox does not need to drink water as often as us so the desert is a perfect habitat for the fennec fox

Preferred Habitat of a Fennec Fox The fennec fox lives in the desert. It lives there because the fennec fox can survive without drinking water frequently. The right kind of prey for the fennec fox lives in the desert, for example, mice, birds and rabbits live in the desert so that is what the fennec fox eats. There are also lots of old, unused burrows that provide shelter and coolness for in the middle of the day when the day is the hottest.

The Arctic Fox Habitat The Arctic Fox mainly lives near the coast in the Arctic Tundra. Surprisingly instead of building their own den they rather burrow in abandoned dens. The Arctic Fox prefers the Arctic Tundra habitat because:1. Humans rarely travel to hunt there so they have less of a threat 2. The white snow helps blend with their stark white coats in the winter giving them an advantage in hunting 3. Their bodies are specially built for the rough weather there

Arctic Foxes Fun Facts Did you know that… Arctic Foxes mate in burrows that are hundreds of years old with many entrances and exits.

Then it will take some of the meat to store in something called a cache until winter comes.
