What is a green economy? UNEP’s Working Definition of a Green Economy A system of economic activities related to the production, distribution and consumption of goods and services that result in improved human wellbeing over the long term, while not exposing future generations to significant environmental risks and ecological scarcities. From the Zero Draft of the Rio +20 The green economy must contribute to achieving key targets, particularly poverty eradication, food security, water resources management, universal access to modern energy, sustainable cities, oceans management and improving disaster vigilance and endurance, as well as public health, development of human resources and sustained growth, inclusive and equitable, that generate jobs, including for young people.
