Approximately 550 regional and state fairs from the US and around the world affiliate with the Intel ISEF each year.

Students who win at the regional or state level, may be eligible to compete at the Intel ISEF. Each affiliated fair can send up to two individual finalists and one team consisting of up to three members to represent them at the Intel ISEF.

Massachusetts –Partnered with an institution of higher education to offer graduate level credit for the project-based learning course developed by the 2005 Ed Academy team. Philippines –Regional coordinators worked to encourage non-participating high schools to join the competition. Saudi Arabia –Defined & Localized a package of training curriculum to encourage science research. Curriculum for both students and teachers was developed Taiwan –500 Educators participated in a science fair forum. Utah –Created a website with project tools and examples of secondary science projects.
