S.M.A.R.T. Goals: Professional and Student DISTRICT:IMPROVE PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE S pecific S trategic M easureable E vidence, data A ttainable A ction Oriented R ealistic R isk taking, relevant T imed (and Tracked) T eaming

Value Added  Guaranteed and viable curriculum  Common vision and common vocabulary  Ability to assess and analyze data  Sustained energy and creativity  Deeper reflection  Risk-taking became safe and focused on professional growth

Our “AHA Moment”  Wait!….We Can Do A Group Goal?! COUNT ME IN!  Where’s the data? Insert picture of dept working at group goals meeting

Grade 5 Assessment: Results  Identified common patterns (15 elementary schools)  Students struggled with Location And Access

Eureka!

2013 Student Learning Goal

Targeting 4th Graders Pre-Assessment

 Data informed process  Referring to goal, we had to reach 80% accuracy  Data guided action steps

Reflections I thought their lack of map skills may have hindered their ability to label properly. I was surprised to see that the most common struggle for students was properly reading the call numbers. Students seemed to struggle with using the first part of the call number as an indicator for where the book could be found. How well the students performed over all - this is not reflected in how students find materials on a day-to-day basis in the library.

 Common Purpose  Collaborate  Reshape perception of our library department  Reap the rewards A Journey Together

2013 Professional Practice Goal

 Create scaffolding to align skills K-5  Divide department into grade level groups  Destiny “walk”  Create 3 lessons per grade level and share Developing Destiny Lessons
