KONFEDERASI SERIKAT PEKERJA INDONESIA Labor Union refers the GHS Implementation from Indonesian Government Regulations - Indonesian Labor Minister No. 187/Men/1999 With subject Hazardous Substances Control at Workplace (Kepmenaker 187/Men/1999 tentang Pengendalian Bahan Kimia Berbahaya di Tempat Kerja). - Indonesian Industrial Minister No. 23/M-Ind/Per/4/2013 with subject New Amendment Rule of GHS Classification and Substances Labeling (Peraturan Menteri Perindustrian No. 23/M-Ind/Per/4/2013 Tentang Perubahan atas Peraturan Menteri Perindustrian No. 87/M-Ind/Per/9/2009 Tentang Sistem Harmonisasi Global Klasifikasi dan Label pada Bahan Kimia.

KONFEDERASI SERIKAT PEKERJA INDONESIA Current Issues - GHS implementation will have significant impacts on manufacturers and suppliers of chemical products and subsequently on users of chemical product. - Chemical product is using in many aspect in workplace, worker may be the most at risk of exposure to chemical hazards and can be directly affected by chemicals accidents and over exposures to the point where lives can be in danger. Worker has important role in production, handling, storing and transporting chemical and dangerous goods.

KONFEDERASI SERIKAT PEKERJA INDONESIA - Worker need to know the hazardous materials specification to the chemical used and or handled properly as well as information about the specific protective measures required to avoid the adverse effect that might be caused by those hazard. The tool most commonly used for providing this information is the labeling and Safety Data Sheets (SDSs).

Labeling and Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) KONFEDERASI SERIKAT PEKERJA INDONESIA Labeling and Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) - The labeling should keep user informed about potential physical, health and environmental chemical hazards of the product & basic advice on using the chemical safely. - SDSs should be able to provide comprehensive information about chemical substance or mixture to use in workplace setting. SDSs is resource that enable employer to undertake worker and environmental protection activities, including training that are specific to the individual workplace.

The direct influence of same format labeling & SDSs KONFEDERASI SERIKAT PEKERJA INDONESIA The direct influence of same format labeling & SDSs - Will improve safety for workers & other through consistent and simplified communications on chemical hazards and practices to follow for safe handling and use. - Will make awareness of hazards, resulting in safer use of chemicals in the workplace and in the home.

KONFEDERASI SERIKAT PEKERJA INDONESIA Labor Union Concerns - Labor Union represents the interests of workers who may be directly involved in any stage of the chemicals life cycle. - Labor Union would like to be an important source of information for workers on how to protect themselves from potential risks at the workplace. - Labor Union has to react in case of chemicals incidents, thereby helping to create a well informed workforce and contributing to the attainment of occupational health and safety.

KONFEDERASI SERIKAT PEKERJA INDONESIA Labor Union Encourage - ILO-UNITAR to provide training material and chemical safety recommendations, codes and guidelines to the GHS in particular in the areas of occupational safety and health, prevention and treatment of poisoning respectively. - Emphasis will be on the health and safety impact in workplaces and the measures that employers and labor union can take to prepare for GHS implementation.
