OSU Sustainability: Get Involved Sustainability.okstate.edu @OSUgreen #OSURLR

Get educated! Energy conservation: As a part of the Cowboy family, you are both an “energy saver” as well as an “energy consumer.” When not in use, turn off all computers, monitors, speakers, and printers.  Unplug all chargers, fans, coffee pots, and other appliances when you are away. Before long breaks, clean out small refrigerators, and unplug with door propped open.  Close blinds and tilt slats upwards to keep cool in summer. Turn off lights, and unplug all seasonal lights.

Get Recycling! Reduce, Reuse: Look for minimal packaging; bulk or concentrate forms Take only what you will eat Report leaky faucets and shower heads: (405) 744-8510 Choose durable rather than disposable Rent, borrow, share or buy used instead of purchasing new Wash full loads of laundry and use cold water Have items repaired when possible Carry a reusable bag for purchases and reusable cup Purchase products made with recycled content When recycling you can reduce your impact on the environment, and slow the flow of the trash to the landfill. Recycling on campus in the OSU Recycles and ResLife Recycles programs.

Get experienced! Career: OSU provides classroom education and research on sustainability and sustainable development topics. Organizations: “Walk the talk” and set an example for peers by reducing waste & conserving energy with in your residence hall. Apply to be the Eco-Rep for your Community Council.

Get participating! Organizations: Join these great groups that are making a difference on campus and in the world today SGA Sustainability Committee Environmental Science Club ECO-OSU Net Impact Habitat for Humanity OSU Chapter Sustainability, Energy & Resources Collaborative Engineers without Borders Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering GSA Society of Environmental Scientists

Questions? Because we’ve got the answers. Specific challenges of certain blue recycle dumpster locations (Bennett, NOMO, P-J, Kerr). GCA staff are people too – don’t take your personal trash or recyclables to the lounge trash or recycle bins. You know what we’re talking about! Get to know your Eco-Rep or become one for your Community Council. For more information visit : sustainability.okstate.edu
