What do I plan to be?

Pharmacists why? I enjoy mixing and experimenting with things. I also would enjoy giving and making someone a medicine that would help out with any health problem a person may have.

Nature of the work Pharmacists distrute drugs prescribed by physians and other health practitioners and provide information to patients about medications and their use. They advise physicians and other health practitioners on the selection, dosge, interactions, and side effects of medications.

Employment opportunities Earnings are high Pharmacist are becoming more involve in making decisions regarding drug therapy and in counseling patients.

Job outlook Very good employment opportunities are expected for pharmacists over the 2004-2014 period because the number of job openings. Employment of pharmacist is expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through the year 2014, because of the increasing demand for pharmaceuticals.

flexibility Can work in hospital. Mostly any drug stores. And some doctor clinics.

Working Conditions Pharmacists work in clean, well- lighted, and well-ventilated areas. Many pharmacists spend most of their workdays on their feet. When working with sterile or dangerous pharmaceutical products, pharmacist wear protective equipment.

How do I plan to reach my goal? Do my best in high school so I can graduate and go on to college. Study on a daily basis to be able to keep good grades.

Training, And other qulifications A license to practice pharmacy is required in all states To obtain a license, the prospective pharmacist must gradulate form a college of pharmacy that is accredited by the accreditation council for pharmacy and pass an examination. Doctor of pharmacy (pharm.D) requires at least 6 years of postsecondary study and the passing of a state board of pharmacy licensure examination.

Advancements There are currently are more than 700 residency training programs nationwide. Pharmacy fellowships are highly individualized programs that are of pharmacy, such clinical practice or reseach laboratories. Some pharmacists who run their own pharmacy obtain a master’s degree in business administration.
