SMART-CALLER BEDEXIT-PIR INSTRUCTIONAL PRESENTATION

BEDEXIT-PIR SET UP The BEDEXIT-PIR is also known to some facilities as the “sensor beam” or “laser”. The correct term is PIR, Passive infrared detector.

Your PIR will look like this LED (TOP) SENSOR (BOTTOM)

STEP 1. Plug the power pack into a power point closest to the bed where you want to set up the unit. Turn the Toggle switch on the box to the on position. STEP 2. Wait for one minute or until the LED light stops blinking.

STEP 3. Using some blue tack stick the PIR to the wall at the head/pillow end of the bed.

STEP 4. Place the PIR 10 centimetres away from the side of the bed

Step 5. Press the unit onto the wall at approximately 40cm’s from the floor.

STEP 6. The unit light should not illuminate if a carer walks past the end of the bed. If the light illuminates lower the unit by 1 to 2cms.

STEP 7. Once the unit is working at the correct distance, mark the wall with a pencil at the top and the bottom of the unit. STEP 8. Remove the unit from the wall mount bracket. STEP 9. Using screws or industrial Velcro, fix the wall mount bracket to the wall following the markings made in step 8.

STEP 10. Replace the unit into the wall mount bracket. STEP 11 STEP 10. Replace the unit into the wall mount bracket. STEP 11. Insert the Jack plug into the nurse call system call point. Your BEDEXIT-PIR is now ready to use.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION This item is sensitive to heat. Please ensure that the BED-EXIT-PIR is not close to heaters, thermostats or electric blankets as this can cause false calls. Placing blankets in the line of vision of the PIR beam will not allow the beam to generate calls in emergency. The toggle switch must be turned to the on position before staff exit the room to ensure calls are received. This instruction manual is not a guide only. These instructions are to maximise the efficiency of the unit in order to ensure resident safety.
