Living on Your Housing Company’s Money

In Finnish, ”hukka” means ”wolf”, but also ”loss”. What is Energiahukka? Energiahukka is an urban big bad wolf that stalks housing companies across Finland Coordinated by the Ministry of the Environment in collaboration with energy and property sector Energiahukka likes to open windows, turn heaters to the maximum, run excess water from the taps, and to cause unnecessary workload for the real estate manager. The actions of Energiahukka advance the global climate change while the housing companies lose money. Energiahukkajahti is a year long energy efficiency campaign that challenges housing companies to carry out simple and cost effective measures to reduce their energy consumption. Housing companies can join the campaign on the campaign website www.energiahukka.fi. Instructions on how to reduce energy consumption can be downloaded free of charge. Nearly 800 housing companies have participated in the campaign so far. In Finnish, ”hukka” means ”wolf”, but also ”loss”. 11/2017
