Natalie Coughlin So let’s get in the POOL!

Who we are: We are a competitive swim team. We compete in the WMSL championships. We have league record holders. We have finished as high as 4th in one of Michigan’s largest swim leagues. We are here to teach kids how to become competitive swimmers and create a team that offers swimming to all levels in our community. Who we are not: * Baby sitters. * Exercise instructors there only for your athlete’s exercise. * Perfect USA – we are age group swimming, which generally equates to teaching. We are here to build a program that will feed into our high school and middle school programs. If your focus needs to be USA, we cannot offer that to you. We get that kids are nervous and you would like them to try it out. Let them race… that’s How they will try it out!

How to contact us: I use email… I will see your email tonight or first thing in the morning, and usually respond shortly thereafter. I have yet to see a swimming emergency. bnshamm@yahoo.com Follow online… www.ghswimclub.weebly.com Follow Facebook – Grand Haven Swim Club I have a smart phone, and I am smart enough to use it infrequently… I don’t hear it and rarely check it, but you can text it… (951) 317-1003. Never text if you need an immediate response… then call and make sure I know your number… I don’t pick up strange numbers

Sign up for email updates: it’s the only way you’ll hear from me Step one: visit ghswimclub.weebly.com Step two: click the UPDATES tab Step three: enter your email(s) and click subscribe

I will also use remind for last minute updates: Take out your cell phone: Enter 81010 Text this message: @ghscsu Or go to: https://www.remind.com/join/ghscsu Or email: send an email to ghscsu@mail.remind.com That’s it… you will get texts from me. Please do not respond with thank yous, thumbs up, yeahs, or the like… 100 of those can really be a downer!

All these forms WILL BE on web page: *Athlete questionnaire *Concussion Forms *flyer/Registration Calendar Meet Schedule What to do the day of practice, or the day of the meet How to get disqualified – a parents guide Equipment list * Means these forms must be returned to coaches prior to entering the water

Successful Sports Parent Do as I say, not as I do. You may have heard me at a water polo game. #1 goal of kids – to have fun. Otherwise they are likely doing it for you! Your Do’s… support, love, smile, give/make them responsible, help make it all fun, and volunteer Your Don’ts… criticize, critique immediately afterwards, allow a sport to dominate a child’s life, exert pressure, treat them differently dependent upon success, make insulting comments about – any athlete, coach, parent, official, and do not coach – that’s why we are here!!

Boys/Mens suit Link to male suit.

Girls/Womens suit Link to female suit

USSA Code of Conduct… the 10 other commandments Thou shall not impose thy ambitions on thy child Thou shall be supportive no matter what Thou shall not coach thy child Thou shall only have positive thinks to say at a competition Thou shall acknowledge thy child’s fears Thou shall not criticize officials Thou shall honor thy child’s coach Thou shall be loyal and supportive of thy team Thy Child shall have goals besides winning Thou shall not expect thy child to become an Olympian
